British rapper and songwriter Wretch 32 has just dropped the video for his new single, months after his hit ‘6 words’.
Co written by Wretch and Emeli Sande, ‘Alright With Me‘ is a hip hop inspired tune with a sprinkle of grime. Wretch also debuts a new look not far off from what you’d expect from American rappers such as ‘Lil Wayne‘ and ‘Wiz Khalifa‘ flashing what looks like gold teeth in scenes shot in North London for the video. We also see great backing vocals in the form of Anne Marie, one to watch in the pop scene.
The funk-driven bass line and old-school hip-hop vibes running throughout keep it feeling fresh with Wretch delivering his distinctive flow and usual lyrical prowess with ease. The video itself, shot in Wretch’s local area of Tottenham and premiered by Gigwise, is an attack on stereotypes, showing that your background or your elder’s misconceptions on where you’ve come from has no bearing on where you’re going or who you are. Your net worth is whatever you believe in.
We like the song, the teeth not so much.
‘Alright With Me’ feat. Anne-Marie & PRGRSHN is out December 11th.
