Video: Watch David Oyelowo do his dad’s Nigerian accent on The Late Show with Jimmy Fallon

He is possibly on his way to Oscar glory, but British actor David Oyelowo is very much in touch with his Nigerian roots. The 38-year-old actor was a guest on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, where he was promoting his new movie Selma, in which he plays the lead role of Dr Martin Luther King Jr.

During the show, the actor whose last name Oyelowo is a Nigerian name, tries to help host Jimmy Fallon pronounce his name correctly, a feat which proves a near disaster. Oyelowo assures Fallon not to feel guilty as he won’t be the first to mispronounce someone else’s name especially as his Nigerian dad apparently pronounces everyone’s name in Hollywood wrongly.

Watch the actor do a cool Nigerian accent as he tells how his dad pronounces Oprah Winfrey.
