VICTORIA BECKHAM SS15

VB unveiled her spring/summer 2015 range at New York Fashion Week yesterday and it oozed class and sophistication. Her summer pieces ranged from fresh camouflage floral print, refined tailor shapes and ankle length fitted dresses. Midi skirts were everywhere, as was outerwear all of which are key for British spring.

Her outerwear focused on clean, fluid lines, each of the coat-dresses falling below the knee, with a loose lower fit, yet a structured upper-half through a draping or buttons – what is then created, is a slouchy yet formed silhouette all in the colour palette of burgandy, black, stone and white.

There were a plethora of midi skirts; hemlines were long, which created a silent confidence in the changing attitudes towards feminine style. We can also see this in Victoria’s footwear line, which had the fashionistas wild! Surprisingly, there was not a stiletto in sight, rather Victoria embraced all that is masculine and comfortable. The shoe collection featured chunky platform sandals and androgynous, pointed loafers in leopard print and black and floral.

The masculine loafer-brogue shoes were a highlight.

Elsewhere, Victoria Beckham offered sharp monochrome stripes in her midi-skirts and dresses, catering to her chic and sophisticated clients.

Our standout had to be the final pop of colour near the end of show, the final looks featured camouflage style floral prints, in feminine shades of baby pink and yellow, a nod to the pops of pastel featured in previous runway shows this fashion week.

Overall, Victoria has come a long way from her body-con dresses, after the show VB notes: “Over the seasons I’ve loosened up the fit of my clothes – but they still make you look long and lean, they’re still wearable.” This strong change made the clothes appear light and easy, and yet, so luxe and sophisticated. It was definitely a strong show for the pop star turned fashion designer.
