UKBA Suspends £3, 000 Visa Bond

UKBA (1)

The UK border agency has abandoned controversial plans which required visitors coming to the UK for the first time to make a £3, 000 deposit.  A number of countries within the commonwealth considered as ‘High Risk’ such as Nigeria would have been affected.

The proposals led to widespread condemnation within the Nigerian community in the UK and abroad with many regarding it as being unfair and an over reaction on the part of the UK government. The conservative led government has been making changes to the immigration system in order to reduce the number of illegal immigrants in the country as well as controlling net migration.
