If you’re a fan of stunning scenery, snow-capped peaks and beautiful lakes, then consider a trip to Switzerland.

Perfect for lovers of the great outdoors, it’s the ideal destination for hiking, sailing, skiing and soaking up café culture and amazing architecture. London City Airport has been working with travel and lifestyle bloggers to find top tips and advice for a trip to beautiful Switzerland. We’re sharing some of their thoughts here to help inspire our readers for their own break to this incredible country.

Pay a visit to Vevey on Lake Geneva

Tay from Chicks That Read says: “We have the giant fork in Lake Geneva! You can find this in Vevey. It’s a beautiful place, and on Tuesday and Saturday mornings, they have a fantastic market where you can pick up some traditional food. They also have second hand stalls where I fell in love with a vintage fur coat. Fashion lovers, food lovers and everyone in between, Vevey is a place you have to visit while in Switzerland.”

 Soak up the scenery

Ashley from Healthy Happier Bear says: “Whether it’s the stunning, crystal clear lakes or the surrounding mountain peaks, everyday activities such as flying, running, or commuting home from work are more beautiful in Geneva than anywhere I’ve lived previously.”

Sail across Lake Geneva

Tracy from Its Not Easy Being Greedy says: “I can recommend a day trip we made: from Lausanne to Evian across Lake Geneva. The boat ride across the lake takes less than an hour and you are surrounded by stunning views (although I must say that looking across to France is prettier than looking back to Switzerland), and I think this picture by Andrew captures the tranquility of the lake.”

 Hit the snowy slopes

Oana from Mamas Haven says: “Switzerland is the place we spent our first holiday together as a married couple. Talk about skiing at its best (and worst, for me, as I am such a scaredy-cat when it comes to speed and losing balance and control!), fondue dinners and sore muscles for a whole week!”

 Appreciate the architecture of Lucerne

Uma from Mom Scribe says: “Switzerland is a land of dreams and visiting this place in our recent bus tour to Europe was a dream come true. We entered Switzerland, and upon arrival is our visit to Lucerne, where we saw the Swiss Lion Monument and travelling towards the city is the main tourist attraction – a pair of historic bridges namely the Chapel Bridge and the Spreuer Bridge. Out of the two bridges, the Chapel Bridge (called Kapellbrücke) was so magnificent in its looks especially because of the way it is constructed with its triangular paintings, beautiful hanging flowers and the octagonal Water Tower at its end.”

Take a spring-time hike in the Alps

Carolyn from Holidays to Europe says: “Switzerland is blessed with towering alps whose plateaus are covered in alpine flowers in Spring and early Summer.”

Relax in the quaint cafes

Lubka from Balgarka says: “I know many see Geneva as a touristic place, but together with its classic European architecture and beautiful sights, it is a busy, working city with its cosy coffee shops, sheltered bus stops and ornamented buildings.”
