Kano– Another bomb blast has gone off in the Sabon Gari motor Park area of Kano state on Thursday, say reports. Witnesses told reporters that the explosive was hidden in a work top fridge after being dropped off by two men masquerading as travellers. No one has claimed responsiblity for the attack although it is thought to have been carried out by the terrorist group Boko Haram who have stepped up attacks in the region this year.
Although the area is usually crowded, it isn’t thought that there were many people around at the time of the explosion.
As at the time of reporting, the number of casualties stand at 8 injured and one person thought dead, but these figures are yet to be confirmed by authorities.
It is the second blast to rock northern Nigeria in as many days after twin explosions in Kaduna left scores dead on Wednesday. One of the bombs went off as Muslim Faithfuls were departing the venue of a Ramadan program led by an Islamic scholar.
Alhaji Umar Shehu, the Kaduna State Police Commissioner confirmed that 25 people lost their lives to the explosion ,but sources in the area said those who lost their lives in the attack were up to 35.
Meanwhile, while Security Operatives were still attending to the scene of the first explosion, another explosion also occurred around Kawo area of Kaduna State, though the number of casualties are yet to be recorded.
