A building now dubbed the ‘House Of Horror’ in Ibadan was the scene of a riot which took place on Monday leaving about 20 people injured according to the BBC.
Tensions have been rising since the discovery of human body parts at the property in Ibadan on Saturday. Police have since cordoned off the property, preventing access to members of the public.
A move that fueled anger within the local community who believe that more bodies are still being hidden in the building.
Locals believe black magic was being used in the building amid reports of malnourished people wandering around the property.
The rioters were said to be armed with sticks and machetes in an attempt to gain access to the property.
The BBC also reports that about 15 people were discovered shackled at the abandoned premises during the police raid.
Police were tipped off when members of the motorcycle association claimed that some of their members had gone missing, fearing that they may have been abducted.
Governor of Oyo State Dr Abiola Ajumobi, visited the scene on Monday and assured residents of justice. “Those behind this dastardly act will be punished by God. We too will punish them when we get them,” he said.
Five security guards allegedly armed with guns, bows and arrows, were arrested at the scene, according to statement by the Police.
