The 46th American National Association for the recognition of Coloured People (NAACP) awards took place on the 6th of February at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. Nominees for this year’s awards include Selma, nominated for best picture, Shemar Moore who won best actor in a drama series, Taraji P. Henson who won the award for outstanding actress in a motion picture and David Oyelowo who finally got the recognition he deserves with the award for outstanding actor in a motion picture.
As expected, celebrities turned up the style on the red carpet with some winning choices by Scandal actress Kerry Washington who looked stunning in a Zuhair Murad number, While Taraji P. Henson dazzled in red.
Shonda Rhimes was the big winner on the night with her two hit shows Scandal and How To Get Away With Murder picking up most of the TV awards. While Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) missed out on the best actress in a drama series award, at least she’ll be happy as mama Pope (Khandi Alexander) and Papa Pope (Joe Morton) both scooped awards for their roles in Scandal.
