Exciting, luxurious, hypnotic…we’re struggling to come up with the right words
When you hear Karl Lagerfeld- one of the genius designers of our time, teamed up with Pharell Williams- one of the genius musicians, writers and artists of our time and (we’re not done yet), Cara Delevingne- one of the most sought after supermodels of our time, you know for sure whetever comes out of this project is going to be spectacular already.
You could actually skip watching the trailer for the new Chanel short- produced for the launch of the luxury brand’s Paris-Salzburg 2014/2015 Métiers d’Art collection, and you would still know it was great. But. if you do stick around to take in the ingenuity, then we’d tell you that the film is based on real life events which explain the inspiration for a jacket that has become an iconic fashion piece. While holidaying at an Austrian resort in 1954, a young Gabrielle Chanel became so enthralled by the jacket worn by a hotel elevator operator, that it went on to inspire one of the most iconic items of clothing of all time.
In the teaser for ‘Reincarnation’, Pharell Williams gets a Victorian era remake, while Cara for once, actually looks like a lady. Lagerfeld created and directed the video to accompany the CHANEL Paris-Salzburg 2014/15 Métiers d’art collection to be shown on December 2nd, 2014 in Salzburg, Austria. Thes new short film was the perfect opportunity for Karl Lagerfeld to develop an artistic collaboration with Pharrell Williams, a close friend of the House and personal friend of the designer. Pharrell Williams composed and wrote the lyrics to “CC The World,” the original soundtrack for Reincarnation, and he also plays one of the lead roles and will be, along with Cara Delevingne, the face of the upcoming campaign of the Paris-Salzburg 2014/15 Métiers d’art collection.
Reincarnation will be screened in Salzburg and on http://chanel.com on December 1st, 2014 the night before the Paris-Salzburg 2014/15 Métiers d’art show.
