She’s a big Hollywood star now, but she’s still very much in touch with her Nigerian roots. Uzo Aduba who plays ‘Crazy eyes’ on hit Netflix show Orange Is The New Black’ shared a photo of a much younger version of herself and sister Chioma on Christmas day in Nigeria.
The pair can be seen holding each other and laughing as they pose for photographs in front of what is presumably the family’s compound in Nigeria. She added the caption ‘#tbt Christmas in Nigeria with my @ohheyitschioma#happyholidays #sisters’.
Check out her afro from back in the days hmm? Although she’s much more glammed up nowadays, the Hollywood star is still very rooted in Afro, which she rocks stylishly.
Aduba has spoken extensively about her super fast rise to fame and how she’s handling her rise to stardom. She told E! after being nominated for a Primetime Emmy award for best supporting actress (which she later won), that she’ still trying to take it all in and that her Nigerian mum is so proud, she’s been doing lots of praise and worship for her daughter’s accomplishments.
How very Nigerian innit?
Watch Uzo Aduba receive her Emmy award in this emotional video. Her mum wore her George and her Gele on the Frow, how awesome is that?! This moment goes down as one of our best Naija moments of the year.
