Nigeria’s bid at the ongoing FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup is looking really good after the Flamingoes beat Colombian side Las Cafeteras, 2-1 to qualify for the quarter finals.
The South Americans dominated the game taking a surprise lead early into the game after only three minutes. Having beat China in their previous match, the game with Columbia had been tipped to be an easier challenge for the Flamingoes but the Columbians weren’t ready to go down without a fight after losing 4-0 to Mexico.
The equalizing goal came 26 minutes into the game thanks to a well executed free kick by Joy Bokiri. Uchenna Kanu sealed the fate of the Colombians with another goal, a few minutes into the second half with a corner kick.
Nigeria enters the quarter finals with Mexico who currently top the group with a +8 goal difference.
Good luck to the girls!
