There’s A First Time For Everything
Eniola Aluko yesterday became the first female ever to join Mark Chapman, Kevin Kilbane and John Motson on Match of the Day 2(MOTD) extra on Sunday evening.
Aluko was on the usually male dominated show to offer her expert opinion on the weekend’s games on the footie fans holy grail, which is topped only by the BBC’s flagship football program Match Of The Day 1 with Gary Lineker.
The 27-year-old has won two World cup for England, took part in European championships and won 83 caps for England.
On the show, she aired her expert opinion on the performance of players including Wayne Rooney’s ‘reckless’ tackle which landed him a red card and Frank Lampard, who she said Chelsea may be having a rethink for selling.
As expected and quite rightly so, the reception to Aluko’s appearance on the show have been overwhelmingly positive and negative with fans and pundits giving her the thumbs up.
Just watching MOTDExtra – great to see us female footie-lovers finally being represented 🙂 thought @EniAlu's contribution was excellent
