Last month, American comedian Hannibal Buress took a dig at Bill Cosby over rape allegations levelled against him by several women. While the upcoming comedian’s comments caused a dent on Bill Cosby’s reputation, it was nothing compared to the rape nightmare the veteran appears to have found himself.
The case has refused to go away as many more women have come forward to say they were assaulted by Cosby since Buress raised the topic again during his show. The latest allegations has led to American network NBC and movie streaming service Netflix to pull the plug on projects initially lined up with the 77-year-old, who had previously said he would not ‘dignify’ the accusations with a response.
That was before the allegations took on a life of their own. Now, Cosby has released a statement through John P. Schmitt, his attorney.
“Over the last several weeks, decade-old, discredited allegations against Mr. Cosby have resurfaced. The fact that they are being repeated does not make them true. Mr. Cosby does not intend to dignify these allegations with any comment. He would like to thank all his fans for the outpouring of support and assure them that, at age 77, he is doing his best work. There will be no further statement from Mr. Cosby or any of his representatives.”
