Muhammed Ali shares his first selfie on Instagram to dispel health rumours

World’s greatest boxing champion shares photo showing him smiling

Boxing legend Muhammed Ali has shared a photo of himself smiling on Instagram in what is perceived as an attempt to calm fears about his health. The 72 year old who’s been living with Parkinson’s disease for 30 years was rumoured to be suffering ill health with reports that he could no longer talk nor walk on his own.

Ali posted the photo with a caption cheering on his favourite football side- The Louiseville cardinals with the caption, “#Louisville Game Day! Go Cards!”.

It’s been a while since we heard from the legend, although a new documentary released in October by Claire Lewins titled, I Am Ali served to fill the void left by the boxer’s silence in recent times. The documentary consists of audio recordings by Ali himself as he plays and chats to his children. It also features video footage of the boxer in training as well as narratives by his brother, ex wife and daughters. I Am Ali isn’t the first Ali biography, indeed Will Smith took a dab at playing Ali in the ‘World’s Greatest’, but this is perhaps the most personal yet.

Ali had told his daughters at the time when the audio recordings were being recorded that they would someday become a part of history, how right was he.
