The Nigerian community in the UK came together in celebration of the country’s centenary celebration at an awards show where a 100 Nigerians were honoured for outstanding contribution to the community.
The Waltham Forest Town Hall in East London was transformed with vivid splashes of green and white at the awards which took place on Friday the 27th June.
The Nigeria high commissioner to the UK told the gathering he was impressed with the organisation and turn out of the event and applauded the efforts of the planning committee in pulling off the glamorous event.
Nigerians turned out in vividly coloured attires with many wearing the colours of the Nigerian flag as part of their attire.
Outstanding Nigerians were honoured in various categories including Unsung Heroes, health services and public services.
Seven individuals were awarded the youth ambassador award while Paralympian Ade Adepitan and Anthony Ogogo were amongst those awarded for outstanding contributions to sport.
