Hampshire police have confirmed that the parents of 5-year-old Ashya King Brett and Naghemeh have been arrested by Police in Malaga after intercepting their vehicle in the resort.
Ashya who has a brain tumour and is said to be seriously ill was found in the grey people carrier that the family were last seen in with his mum and dad with his siblings in a hotel 10 miles away.
A spokesperson for the police force said that the force was happy to have found Ashya, but insisted “there are no winners in this.”
He also added that he “had no doubt that its been a very distressing time for the family.”
Ashya is said to be at a hospital in Malaga now receiving treatment while his parents remain in custody.
Mr King had earlier posted a video on You Tube where he criticised the police and media for hounding the family. The video showed Ashya in his father arms and the feeding tube that has been a centre of concern also appeared to be working fine.
Mr King asked for the search to be called off, pleading that all the family wanted was for the 5-year-old to get the right care that he needs. He also said that his son was doing well and smiling a lot more since they left the hospital.
