Nigerian actress Mercy Johnson is scheduled to arrive in the UK to promote her new film ‘Thy Will Be Done’, a Nollywood movie directed by veteran director Obi Emelonye.
The movie premiere is due to take place at BFI IMAX on the 26th of February in London South Bank. The film which also features Nollywood’s famous actor Ramsey Noah and Mary Njoku is a story about Pius (Ramsey Noah), a happily married pastor in charge of a large church in Lagos, Nigeria. But when his first wife (Mary Njoku) whom he buried 7 years ago suddenly shows up, his world is thrown into turmoil. His present wife (Mercy Johnson-Okojie) tries to fight her corner but Pius has a choice to make…between his calling and his wives.
Nollywood is the world’s second biggest film industry in terms of output with an astonishing 2, 000 movies per year. It is Africa’s biggest movie industry and the movies are popular with Nigerians and Africans all over the world. While output has grown over the years, the industry has often been criticised for the quality of some of the movies, but it’s safe to say that many directors and producers have tried to step up the game over the years with movies like Mirror Boy (also by Obi Emelonye) going on to win international awards.
Naija Living will be bringing you all the highlights from the screening, for now, you can watch the trailer below to get a feel for the movie.
