Man enlists celebrities to help record star studded video which took 4 years, to propose to his girlfriend

Whoever said romance is dead?

Session drummer Jim MacAulay enlisted the help of over 10 celebrities to help him record a romantic video to propose to his girlfriend of 12 years.

Sophie Hancock, became a very famous fiancée over Christmas after the video, played to her by Jim at a friends party, went viral.

The video stars Ed Sheeran, who appears about three times in the 5 minute clip trying his hardest to convince Sophie to marry this fellow. He even went as far as telling a bizarre story about his struggle with ‘having kids’, and how Jim was his sperm donor? How true this is, we don’t know, but this is the first we’re hearing of the ‘Thinking Out Loud’ singer’s attempts at conception.

Various celebrities then join in with their own reasons why Jim’s girlfriend should marry him. Sir Bob Geldof said, ‘Forget about us Sophie, we’re over now. Go with Jim’. There were also some really corny ones including Ronan Keating who said, ‘Sorry you can’t have me Sophie, but you can have your man here, Jim’.

Nile Rogers, Rudimental and Cee Lo Green also make appearances in the video, which did get Sophie to say YES!

After 12 years of dating, Jim admitted the pressure was definitely on to make sure it was perfect. he told the Mirror, “It has to be quite good when you have left it so long to propose. I am lucky that I have got a job where I get to meet lots of famous people.”

“I deliberately asked people who I knew Sophie was a fan of. She loves Ed Sheeran so I was really pleased he was so willing to help out.”I think it’s a video she’ll keep for a long time. It took four years because you can’t just go up to people and ask them, you have to meet them and establish that you aren’t an idiot”

“I was there when most of them were filmed. I work away a lot with different bands so got to meet most of them at radios or festivals. All of the people on the list are people Sophie likes so it is a bit of an eclectic mix.”

Congrats to the couple.
