Locals Loot Ebola Quarantine Centre In Liberia- 20 Infected Patients Flee

Fears That Deadly Disease Could Spread To Entire Area

Residents at Westpoint, a slum in Liberia’s capital city of Monrovia raided and looted an Ebola Quarantine clinic yesterday amid fears that the epidemic- which is already out of control, could now spread even further.

Up t0 2o patients from the clinic are thought to have escaped the facility after protesters broke down the door of the building and made away with items including blood soiled bedsheets, mattresses and other euipment used at the clinic.

It is thought the reason for the raid is due to locals being unconvinced about the existence of the virus and the transfer of some patients from out of the area to the facility for treatment.

Medics now fear that the disease could spread to the entire area through the missing infected patients and the infected equipment and items looted from the building.

Liberia has the highest death rate from the deadly disease with up to 413 people having lost their lives to the disease.
