Liz Black Débuts Autumn/Winter Collection For River Island

by Lawrenceia Osei

Liz Black’s collection for River Island certainly emphasises the quote ‘Black is the new Black’. The predominant colour in the collection is black, which makes the clothes easy to wear with absolutely anything. The use of black also adds boldness and elegance to her designs.

We love the ‘Faux Fur Cuff Coat’ which is essential for your Autumn/Winter collection in your wardrobe. The coat can worn for a night out, as the faux fur cuffs add a bit of glamour to the coat or it can simply be worn during the day pairing it with an all black ensamble. The style of the coat is inspired by Russian Winter fashion, particularly the faux fur cuffs and the loose fit of the coat. Faux fur has also become a huge trend in the fashion world for Autumn/Winter collections.

The ‘Blue Abstract Print Cocoon Dress’ adds hints of colour to the collection, however it still embraces the dark ideology Black used to design her clothes. The use of the cocoon style adds class to the dress, which can be worn for special occasions,. The contrast leather panels on the side of the dress creates an edgy look which can be matched with Black’s ‘Caged Stiletto Shoe Boots’. These stilettos are absolutely fierce and its definitely a must-have for Autumn/Winter 2014!

Another favourite piece from the Design Forum collection is the ‘Black Laser Cocoon Dress’. This dress is made from scuba fabric which sculpts the dress to accentuate different shapes and sizes of women. The fabric creates an illusion of an hour glass shape, great for when you want to dress to impress. Liz Black’s collection has certainly created a landmark in Autumn/Winter fashion 2014.
