American rapper Kanye West halted his own concert in Sydney, Australia on Friday, demanding that everyone to stand up and dance- without realised that two attending fans were in wheelchairs.
Kanye himself told the crowd: “I can’t do this show until everybody stand up. Unless you got a handicap pass and you get special parking and s**t.” Nearly everyone stood up, but Kanye noticed two people that were still seated and called to them to stand up, refusing to resume the show.
One fan had to wave her prosthetic limb in the air before the rapper realised why she couldn’t stand up and said: “Okay, you fine.” He then looked to the second fan who was in a wheelchair to confirm that he could not get up either, and then continued with the song “Good Life”.
Footage of the incident was uploaded to YouTube by Peter Galbriath, who said in the video description: “Kanye asks everyone to stand up, someone doesn’t. Kanye asks them to stand up, they’re in a wheelchair. Misunderstanding.”
Throughout this month Kanye has been on his Yeezus tour, performing across Australia. Earlier last week he had to be taken to hospital because of a migraine.
There has been no comment from Kanye West or a spokesperson about the incident.
