Investing in Nigeria – the Diaspora Investment symposium, developed by Homestrings
and Developing Markets Associates (DMA), will take place in London on 7th March
Following on from the highly successful Investing in West Africa Diaspora Summit, where
commitments of over $60 million were made by those in attendance on the day, Investing in Nigeria
will for the first time provide an opportunity for the vast Nigerian Diaspora to play an active role in
driving private sector development across their country of origin.
Promoters will present opportunities from a range of sectors including; the built environment,
agriculture, power and extractives, ICT, health and education.
Through joining forces DMA and Homestrings have created a series that finally allows the African
Diaspora to take an active role in and make a financial contribution to private sector development
across the continent. Similarly, the series has unlocked a previously untapped pool of capital that
businesses can now access to facilitate growth.
Recognising this need Atam Sandhu, CEO of DMA stated that “[he is] delighted to announce the
Investing in Nigeria Event as we have seen increasing interest by governments to engage with their
Diasporas. There is greater recognition of the financial and cultural capital they have to contribute,
and what benefits strategic engagement can have for sustainable development. Our events, together
with Homestrings, provide a fantastic opportunity for Diaspora members to not only contribute to
the economic development of their home countries, but to also be forward-thinking leaders in
driving investment into effective prospects that traditional investors often overlook.“
Commenting on the partnership Eric Guichard, CEO of Homestrings added “Homestrings is pleased
to join forces with DMA, the highly rated investment promotion agency, to offer for the first time a
Diaspora Investment Forum series, based in London. This series also presents an opportunity for the
Diaspora to build wealth while contributing to the growth back home. DMA has built a reputation
delivering first rate emerging market conferences to an eager audience. We look forward to a
fruitful partnership in service to the global Diaspora.”
