Ini Edo attempts to create Lupita Nyong’o’s iconic Golden Globes look…with disastrous consequences

A who wore it best that should never have happened

As Africa’s biggest names in entertainment gathered for this year’s Africa Magic Viewers Choice (AMVCA) awards, style watchers at home and abroad will have their eyes peeled to see who made the cut and who should fire their style team pronto.

One of such celebs would be Nollywood actress Ini Edo. The newly single actress rocked up to the AMVCA red carpet in a replica of the Ralph Lauren dress worn by Oscar winning actress Lupita Nyong’ o. Nyong’o turned heads in the red caped number at the 2014 Golden Globes Awards and quickly became the fashion world’s darling afterwards.

Now, Ini says like the rest of us, she also fell in love with the dress, so much so she actually bought it and wore it to the AMVCA’s. Now, there’s just one problem….it just doesn’t work.

Unlike Lupita, the dress doesn’t fall gracefully across her shoulders, but rather hugs Ini’s considerably fleshier arms like a glove. And let’s not even talk about the hair do and hoopla earrings.

Fans on social media weren’t impressed with the look either and many didn’t shy away from letting the actress know what they thought of her look.

One user wrote: “Truth be told, this dress didn’t do well for u, u can do better, I think you need to sack ur team, bad hair / dress choice”. Another opined: “Pls step up on ur dress sense :]Y fashion police oooo, where r u =))…. nayyyy.” But it wasn’t all doom and gloom from fans as another commented, You love it, you wore it, you felt like a queen in it……..babe, that’s all you need to be sassy! People are entitled to their opinion and beauty they say, is in the eyes of the beholder. But guess what, their opinion is thiers and yours is to rock your style and sway all you want in it! To h*** with every other thing!

What do you think?
