Even if you don’t, I think we can all agree that Mr West and his voluptuous wife made an indelible mark on our fashion subconscious this year (for good or bad). Together, (and baby North in tow), they were a staple at the Front rows of some of the biggest fashion shows during fashion week.
Kanye is a risk taker, and this more than anything else is probably what swayed the votes in his favour. His forever ripped denims and over sized coats are not necessarily a staple in every man’s closet, but at least it keeps the fashion world talking about him and ultimately, makes him a fashion interest.
It’s no wonder he was the centre of Balmain’s smouldering 2015 SS campaign along with wife Kim Kardashian. In the words of Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing, Kim and Kanye represent, “the new modernity.” In terms of menswear, Kanye represents the new age of fashion, where even men are expected to experiment and be non conformist.
The rapper beat fellow hunk Idris Elba for the title voted by GQ readers.
