Glee’s Amber Riley to star in West End adaptation of DREAMGIRLS

Hit musical Dreamgirls makes its West End debut tonight at the Savoy theatre. It’s been 35 years since the musical originally opened on Broadway and 10 years since the film featuring Beyoncé, Jennifer Hudson (who earned an Oscar for her performance as Effie White) and Anika Noni Rose hit the box office. Now Olivier and Tony award-winning Director and choreographer Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon, Disney’s Aladdin and Something Rotten!), is bringing the soulful production to life in London with a cast starring American actress and singer Amber Riley (Glee) who plays Effie White, Liisi LaFontaine as Deena Jones and Ibinabo Jack as Lorrell Robinson.

Dreamgirls charts the tumultuous journey of a young female singing trio from Chicago, Illinois called ‘The Dreams’, as they learn the hard lesson that show business is as tough as it is fabulous, and features the classic songs ‘And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going’, ‘I Am Changing’, ‘Listen’ and ‘One Night Only’.
