The filming for a major nude scene in the TV show Game of Thrones has been granted the go ahead in Croatia after the filming team was previously banned from shooting the controversial scene in the capital city Dubrovnik.
Avoiding as many spoilers as possible, fans of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series will know that a major plot event which includes a naked walk of shame by Cersei Lannister is coming up in season five.
Although the actor Lena Headey is on board, the Catholic Church of St Nicholas had opposed the request to film on the grounds that it would have been “immoral”. But according to TMZ, a compromise had now been found.
The producers will be allowed to film Cersei walking naked as long as she is not filmed nude inside a place of worship, so a fake church set will be created.
This follows the reveal by Martin himself that fans, particularly women had asked for more explicit male sex scenes.
At the Edinburgh International Literary Festival, he said, “I’m not going to do it just for the sake of doing it. If the plot lends itself to that, if one of my viewpoint characters is in a situation, then I’m not going to shy away from it, but you can’t just insert things because everyone wants to see them.”
