Fleur East looses X Factor crown to Ben Haenow

And what a deserving winner!

Even though we were rooting for Fleur (we gotta support a sista ya’know), we’re more than thrilled that Ben Haenow won this year’s X Factor. The 29 year old van driver from Croydon has been a firm favourite from the start of the series with his unique voice and great looks. Fans warmed up to him for his humility and passion, while Fleur won the nation’s heart with her energetic performances as well as her stunning looks.

Both acts went head to head during Sunday’s final at the SSE Arena in Wembley, performing first, their stand out performances of the series and then each performed their cover of One Republic’s ‘Something I Need’.

For his stand out performance, Ben chose his cover of Michael Jackson’s Man in the Mirror, while Fleur ofcourse chose her chart topping performance of Uptown Funk.

Ben appeared to have the best performance on the night and the 10, 000 strong crowd in Wembley seemed to echo this as his winning single was met with racous applause. The support was so great that fans wouldn’t let Judge Cheryl get a word in as she told him, ‘This is your moment, take it all in’.

It was later revealed on Xtra Factor that Ben had been in the lead from the middle of the series according to public votes, while Fleur came second for several weeks and third during one week.

Fleur conceeded defeat on the night admitting she had lost to a ‘deserving winner’. The race is now on to see if Ben’s single will make the Christmas number one spot.

While it wasn’t the most interesting final we’ve seen on the X Factor, there were some stand out performances including Ollie Murs and Demi Lovato, One D and Ronnie Wood, while the best by far on the night was the sultry, smooth voice of Sam Smith who performed ‘Stay with me’.
