The bomb detonated as a soldier searched her, injuring other officers who were at scene in the process.
The Director of Defence Information, Major Gen. Chris Olukolade confirmed the attack saying that normalcy has since returned to the barracks after Soldiers cordoned off the area.
According to the Vanguard, the female bomber was seen by members of the public riding on a motorcycle and on approaching the quarter-guard of the 301 Battalion, hugged a soldier, leading to the fatal explosion.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet, but many suspect that the Boko Haram sect which had carried out many daring attacks in the past few months killing hundreds is largely responsible.
