According to reports by Nigerian news website Sahara Reporters, one of the son’s of former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo was injured in a fight with Boko Haram on Monday in the town of Mubi in Borno State.
Boko Haram militants allegedly attacked a platoon being led by Adeboye Obasanjo, an engineer in the Nigerian army and a Lt. Colonel with a division in Jos.
24 soldiers were said to have died during the attack which happened as the battalion made their way in the town only to be ambushed by Boko Haram fighters who also made away with one of the battalions armoured vehicles.
Sahara Reporters claims the Nigerian army have now retreated to the main base in Yola and also moved all sensitive army materials to the base leaving the town open to further attack by the terrorist organisation.
Obasanjo was said to have critically been injured during the attack with severe injuries to his legs. He has since been taken to the hospital where for treatment.
There has been no statement yet from ex President Obasanjo about the attack or the health of his son.
