54 years ago on this very day Nigeria was granted its full independence under a constitution that provided for a parliamentary government and a substantial measure of self-government for the country’s three regions. As you’ve probably realised, the big celebrations will really be happening in Nigeria, the sound of fireworks, the delicious smell of Suya and the streets filled with the true beats of Africa.
