It isn’t often you get the pleasure of walking into a room full of beautiful black beauty bloggers and Press in London, but that’s exactly what we saw at the utterly delightful bloggers event at Cucumba in Soho.
The brain child of Vivienne Nweke, Cucumba has been making sisters beautiful in the heart of Soho for over a decade and it’s not hard to see why. The trendy Salon offers everything from mani pedis to massages and skin treatments, but perhaps what it’s best known for are it’s express on the go ‘TopUp‘ treatments at purse friendly prices. You literally dash in, choose from a range including a 10 Minute ‘QuickFix’ at £14 or 20 minutes ‘PitStop’ at £23.50 and you’re sent on your merry way looking fabulous.
On the 8th of April, Cucumba hosted a throng of brown beauty bloggers to its first beauty event this year in conjunction with Brown Beauty talk, the online beauty website for women of colour. The event tagged CUCUMBA- URBAN PITSTOP PRESENTS is a concept that offers space in the west end beauty salon to showcase music, art, fashion and poetry. This month’s event served as a launch pad for new fashion label Tirivamwe who launched their Spring/Summer 15 collection at the event.
Attendees had the pleasure of sampling a range of the salon’s services as well as the chance to mingle and network with like-minded women of colour.
Journalists including ITV News broadcaster Charlene White and Black Hair and Beauty magazine Editor Keysha Davies were in attendance as well as our own Editor in Chief Azeezat Sulaiman, who got her nails buffed and painted as well as having a shoulder massage she swears is the best thing she’s ever experienced.
