Labour MP for Tottenham- David Lammy has declared interest in running for Mayor of London during the next elections in 2015. If successful, he will be the first black mayor of London.

According to the guardian Lammy claims: “London is a great city; however, its economy works for some Londoners but not all of them. It is a tale of two cities, and I see that all the time in my own constituency. Ending that division is what animates me.”

This is great news and it takes great guts and determination to come out and put his cards out on the table while some are still dithering. The question is- will you be voting for him, come 2016? Do you think he’s got what it takes? How exactly will his election affect Nigerians in the UK if at all? Tell us what you think?

Other potential candidates for the mayoral role include Dame Tessa Jowell, and outspoken Hackney MP: Diane Abbot, who claims she’s still undecided.
