We are absolutely gutted! This Hollywood couple who looked as solid as rock only weeks ago in several high-profile appearances have declared that they’re heading for a divorce.
Gwyneth Paltrow and Cold Play front man Chris Martin broke the news on the actress’ website ‘Goop’ with an emotional statement which read,
“It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate. We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate. We are, however, and always will be a family, and in many ways we are closer than we have ever been. We are parents first and foremost, to two incredibly wonderful children and we ask for their and our space and privacy to be respected at this difficult time. We have always conducted our relationship privately, and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and co-parent, we will be able to continue in the same manner.
Gwyneth & Chris”.
The site reportedly crashed after the announcement which was made yesterday after the couple reportedly fled with their kids to escape the media storm that was sure to erupt after the post.
On The Rocks
The couple who have two kids; Apple 9 and Moses 7, together have been under scrutiny lately with reports of infidelity. Rumours which Gwyneth branded as ‘ridiculous’ at the time.
Apparently the couple’s marriage had been on the rocks for quite some time but the pair were reportedly trying their best to work on it and make it work for the sake of their children and their careers,.
The couple even moved across the Atlantic from London to Los Angeles, in an effort to rekindle the spark.
According to US magazine Hollywood Life, Chris is said to be devastated by the split. According to a source, the magazine claims, “He suggested counseling, he even suggested they move back to London but ultimately that just didn’t work out for them.”
‘Chris truly believed that a change of scenery would be good for the couple, but it seems the damage had already been done.’
The couple will now have to decide who gets custody of their two children and who shares what, in a portfolio of 5 high-end properties comprising of a sprawling estate in California, a house in Malibu and their property in London’s Belsize park.
Gwyneth was under scrutiny last year after she ordered friends to boycott magazine Vanity Fair because they were apparently thought to be poised to publish a negative feature about her.
She also faced a backlash from working mums over an article on her lifestyle website Goop where she talked about her hectic work schedule with criticisms that she didn’t spend enough time with her family.
The couple have enjoyed memorable moments in the past with ex husband Chris Martin having reportedly written the Cold Play hit ‘Fix You’ for the actress after she lost her dead to a heart attack.
