Sir Cliff Richard has denied any claims that he sexually assaulted a boy under the age of 16 almost 3 decades ago as Police raided his home in Berkshire on Thursday.
The claims relate to an incident which allegedly occurred at a Christian rally in 80’s during a crusade by Billy Graham. The alleged victim was said to be between the age of 10-16 at the time of the assault.
Speaking to Kiss FM on Friday after images of the police raid at his sprawling property in the UK were shown in the news, Sir Cliff accused the Police of ‘leaking’ the video of the raid to the media even though he apparently received no notice alerting him on the impending search.
“The allegations are completely false. Up until now I have chosen not to dignify the false allegations with a response, as it would just give them more oxygen,” he said.
“However, the police attended my apartment in Berkshire today without notice except, it would appear, to the Press.”
“It goes without saying that I will co-operate fully should the police wish to speak to me.”
Police spent 5 hours at the Berkshire property looking for clues that could aid their investigation, although the singer is currently in Portugal at the moment where he also owns a vineyard.
Police are expected to interview him as soon as he arrives back in the UK.
