Chimamanda Adichie shows us how to mix African fashion with Western pieces perfectly!

We’re taking genius style lessons today and it’s from none other than Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. The multiple award winning writer is the latest ‘celebrity’ to feature in Vogue UK’sToday I’m Wearing‘ column.

Adichie, who is currently in Nigeria charts her style for the past week for the magazine with an eclectic mixture of African inspired fashion and western pieces. Her style perfectly mirrors that of many African women in the 21st century with daily outfit choices from some of Africa’s best as well as well known luxury designers from the west.

Take a leaf from Chimamanda Adichie’s style picks from the past week. We love the fact that she designed some of the accessories and even clothes that she wears herself. Could there be a Chimamanda Adichie fashion line somewhere in the future? You never know.

Our favourite look. That background makes us wanna go home! Here Chimamanda pairs a wrap-around skirt and top by Nigerian designer Itunu with a lovely pair of strappy Zara shoes and a bag from Chloe.

Here the author sports a BCBG top over a pair of trousers she designed herself. Her bag is by Nigerian designer Obsidian, while her shoes are by DSquared2 shoes.

Day 3, Chimamanda sports a Stella Jean dress, Sophia Webster shoes, belt from Target and ankara headwrap from Nsukka market.

Carolina Herrera dress, shoes by Emanuel Ungaro and accessories designed by Chimamanda, which she of course bought from Balogun Market.
