After just 10 months as manager for one of the top UK football clubs, Manchester United, David Moyes has been given the sack.
Speculation lingered over social media yesterday after Man Utd lost their match 2-0 against Moyes former club Everton on Sunday.
This is how Manchester United broke the news this morning on twitter:
“Manchester United announces that David Moyes has left the club. The club would like to place on record its thanks for the hard work, honesty and integrity he brought to the role.”
Now the big question is who will take over?
Yesterday it was stated that Ryan Giggs is lined up as a temporary replacement. However BBC have just released this list of potential candidates:
Jurgen Klopp – manager of Borussia Dortmund. Led the German club to two Bundesliga titles and the final of the Champions League last season. His team play quick tempo and attractive football, while he has endeared himself to the media with eccentric qualities.
Louis van Gaal – The Netherlands coach will be available after the World Cup. He has won league titles with Barcelona, Ajax and Bayern Munich.
Diego Simeone – The Argentine has been a revelation at Atletico Madrid – a tough team that plays quality football. They lead La Liga but will they lose their leader?
As the chapter closes for Moyes, let’s hope a successful chapter opens for Man Utd.
