There has been confirmed reports of a bomb attack in Nyanya, the same area that the bomb went off at a bus depot just over two weeks ago (seen in the picture above), killing more than 70 people.
SaharaReporters spoke with several emergency responders heading to the scene. They said at this time that they are unaware of the cause of the explosion.
No group has claimed responsibility for the blast that was reportedly caused by a car bomb.
Islamist group Boko Haram have previously staged attacks in Abuja and Nigerians have raised fears that the the north-east based extremist group are expanding their area of operation.
The number of casualties has not yet been confirmed but initial reports say a number of people have been killed.
National Emergency Management Agency and the Nigerian police are currently controlling traffic around the area.
