When it comes to Primers, the Benefit Porefessional Pro balm has gotten many raving reviews in the beauty world, even winning best make Up Primer by Company Magazine in 2012, so we decided to give it a go to see if it’d be great for all you lovely women of colour.
First thing is the size, it’s probably one of the smallest pieces of make up you’ve ever seen which means you don’t get a lot of product (about 22.0 ml), but because you only need a little bit of the product per use, we’re good with that.
On application, we’d advise you make sure you MOISTURISE your face thoroughly before dabbing on the primer as this is an oil free product. For women of colour who have dry skin, it tends to have a white effect if used without sufficient moisturiser on the skin and it also makes application a little bit complicated as you’ll need to work the primer in to get even coverage.
Second thing as we mentioned earlier, you only need a tiny bit of the primer and preferably only apply in areas where you’re trying to achieve coverage of pores or fine lines. We’d advice you work in the primer from the centre of the face and a good brush will help you achieve a smooth and flawless finish.
We’re quite happy to say the primer does give near flawless coverage especially if you dab a bit of loose powder or foundation over it for a nearly airbrushed look.
It’s really light on the face and easy to apply as long as you moisturise the skin first.
We’ll recommend having a tube handy for a quick touch up (you can apply on top of make up too) while you’re out and about.
