Brett and Neghemeh King appeared in court today for their hearing in a Madrid court to answer questions relating to extradition back to the UK on the charges of child cruelty.
The hearing which was scheduled to take place earlier today was postponed to allow the private lawyer the couple had hired to make it to the hearing, but Sky News have reported that the hearing has now been postponed till tomorrow while the parents remain in police custody in Madrid.
The parents were arrested on the holiday resort of Malaga in the Costa Del Sol in Spain as they made their way in the family’s grey people carrier on Saturday night. Ashya was then subsequently taken to a hospital in Malaga where he is said to be receiving treatment.
Police issued a European arrest warrant for the five year old’s parents after they took him out of hospital in Southampton in an attempt to get him an alternative treatment for brain tumour in Czech republic.
Ashya’s brain tumour is already in the later stages and the parents rowed with doctors over the best course of treatment for the seriously ill boy.
His brother Naveed King has posted another video online where he insisted that the family were well prepared for the trip across countries to Spain and that Ashya was always well cared for and looked after.
Police in Spain have prevented the parents from visiting Ashya and have also blocked access to him from his 6 other siblings who are also in Malaga.
