We just can’t get enough of it
One of the UK’s top connoisseur’s of African print SOBOYE was featured in German magazine Superior Magazine. The spread which made use of African inspired fashion paired with fruits is an inspiring work of creativity. The editorial was featured in an article about KWANZAA, a Pan-African celebration hundreds of years old which is marked by Africans in the diaspora between the 26th of December and 1st of January.
The magazine spoke to the creator of Africa fashion Day Berlin Beatrace Angut Oola who gave some insights into the festival which is not very well-known on our shores, but is definitely worth considering.
Oola explains, “Kwanzaa is a African-American Pan-African cultural holiday that is centered around seven principles. The celebration is from the 26th of December – 1st of January. Each of the seven days honors a different principles. It is not a replacement for X-mas it is dedicated to the African-Americans civil rights movement. The founder Dr. Karenga was a professor of Black studies in America in 1966. He sought, that it is important to honor the african cultures and inspire African-Americans. Kwanzaa means „first friut“ in the Swahili language.”
