Today marks the 5th anniversary of the death of King of Pop Michael Jackson.
The singer died of a drug overdose of the anaesthetic propofol which was administered at his home by his Doctor- Conrad Murray.
Jackson had been scheduled to perform at a 10 day tour of the UK organised by AEG Live who were eventually acquitted of all charges relating to the singer’s death after his family took them to court.
Today, thousands of fans gathered around the world to honour his memory by dressing up like him, performing in flash mobs featuring his signature moves and holding vigils around his Hollywood star.
The star whose troubled personal life overshadowed his immense talent has continued to sell millions of records even in death as his popularity continues to sour.
We pay tribute to the child genius who became the world’s biggest entertainer of all time.
Here’s to Michael Jackson, the man who was misunderstood. We may never truly unmask the man beneath the hair and the façade but one thing is for sure; he is larger than life and his legacy will live on far longer than any of us.
