Another year brings on another season of award shows, which, of course means a lot of stunning red-carpet dresses to lust over! Some A-Listers got it right at this year’s Emmys – from Viola Davis to Kerry Washington, but some got it very, very wrong…(Lena Dunham what were you thinking!) We have a peek at those that got it right!
1. Halle Berry in Elie Saab
Does Halle Berry ever get it wrong? She blew fashion critics away in this beautiful dusty purple gown; she added class with pairing the look with complimentary grey heels. The thigh high slit and her trademark short pixie-cur hair all worked together to create the perfect fun, yet formal Emmy outfit.
2. Kerry Washington in Prada
This is a marmite, love it or hate it dress. This Prada number stunned but for all the wrong reasons, but lets start with the positives! The bright orange works well against Kerry’s complexion and the figure hugging of the dress’s shape highlights her post-baby body perfectly. However we weren’t entirely sure about the under-skirt or the overly jeweled linings of the Prada number. But as always Kerry manages to look stellar – even when the dress doesn’t measure up.
3. Laverne Cox in Marc Bouwer
It’s often difficult to get sexy and sophisticated right – but Laverne Cox managed it with ease. The Orange Is The New Black star looked simply angelic in this white-hot look, whilst still showing off lots of cleavage through the dress’s plunging neckline. She polished off the look with stunning Fred Leighton jewelry.
4. Viola Davis in Escada
The How To Get Away With Murder star, wore her favourite designer, but this time modeled their Resort 2015 range. The vibrant violet-blue dress, with the embellished, portrait neckline captivated fashion critics everywhere ( some, however were quick to point out that her bodice was far too snug.) The actress contrasted the bright blue hues of the dress with a gorgeous deep red clutch, which matched her red lips and Sutra earrings perfectly.
5. Teyonah Paris
Although Teyonah Parris didn’t win an Emmy on the night, her bright neon dress made her an instant red carpet winner in our eyes. The Mad Men starlet Teyonah Parris looked faultless in her colourful strapless Christian Siriano Spring 2014 gown. As the dress did most of the talking, Teyonah kept the rest of the look relatively simple, withMeira T earrings, and Carrera y Carrera and Suzanne Kelan rings.
6. Angela Bassett in Elisabetta Franchi
Red carpet veteran, Angela Basset looked like a true Grecian goddess in a Elisabetta Franchi dress from the Fall 2014 collection accessorized with an Oroton ‘Freize’ clutch, Giuseppe Zanotti heels, and David Yurman jewelry. She topped of the look with big sexy curls.
